Our Reviews

When we are on the way searching for a free video editor without leaving a watermark on edited videos that has powerful, professional editing package, we found Lightworks. As said above, it is not easy to use at the first time for beginners because its interface is a little bit strange. It is not as intuitive as other common video editors like Filmora or Movavi that we reviewed before.

By the way, if you look at professional video editing software for making Hollywood films like VEGAS Pro 15 (Not free, $599 on MAGIX) or Davinci Resolve, you will find it very much similar to these programs.

I believe that the learning curve will not take long. When you come into specific project and get familiar with the tools, you will find it as simple to use as the others. Lighworks 14 has all the tool you need such as: cut, trim clips, copy, paste, split clip, adjust the audios, add effects, title to the videos. While in free version, Lightworks provides only Color correction: Main, RGB, HSV, CURVE, then the 3D DVE is a bonus from the publisher. We can see that in PRO Version, you are able to add more effects for your clips as well as various type of transitions.

Here is our detail review of Lightworks free video editor in August 2017.

PROS/ Lightworks Free Video Editor is a perfect tool for YouTube video creators who often want to produce nice looking movies to share online directly.

CONS/ There is only 1 option to save the project to MP4 to upload to YouTube or Vimeo and max 720p quality in this free version make Lightworks less attractive to those who expect more popular output like AVI, MKV, WebM, MOV….and so on. Their limitation on effect library also make us unhappy during our test.

∑Our Conclusion: An overall rating at 7/10 below show our opinion about this software. You can try it yourself and give us your comment at the end of this article.

In our list, Lightworks 14 rates no. 4 among 5 best free video editor to use after ActivePresenter, VSDC, Shotcut. Take a look this article if you want to find our more about these great option.
