Pros

Lectora Inspire provides an intuitive user interface with ready to use templates that can help elearning beginners to create their first course easily. It is capable of creating responsive layouts with enhanced media support and a wide variety of publishing options such as AICC, SCORM, xAPI and so on.

It is integrated with Snagit 13 and Camtasia 9, two powerful image and video processing programs from TechSmith which are handy tool for both taking screenshot and recording video from the screen.

Lectora Inspire is also packed with many amazing templates, stock images and character from Elearning Brothers and BranchTrack scenario-based simulations.

Cons

Lectora Inspire is packed with other applications and templates (i.e Snagit, Camtasia..etc) which means it can not handle all the tasks itself. For example, when you want to import MS PowerPoint to the project, the program will use Camtasia add-in wizard to execute the job. And when you want to to try a demo on BranchTrack or download a template from Elearning Brothers, you’ll have to contact these vendors to go further.

It is pricey compared to other elearning authoring tools we’ve reviewed. The best affordable authoring tool, ActivePresenter comes in at the price $399 per license only (It’s free to download and use without any limitation). It has all tools you need to create responsive learning courses which runs on any platforms. Added to that, ActivePresenter has its own screen recorder and video editor. Some other cheaper solutions you can easily find on the net are Storyline 3 and iSpring Suite.

Our Verdict

Lectora Insprire is no doubt one of the most powerful and simple to use elearning authoring tools for both elearning beginners and professionals. Regardless of your experience level, you will enjoy using this tool. However, you do not have to buy it at all costs. There are many other alternatives to Lectora Inspire out there.
