Camtasia 2018 Review
Camtasia 2018 provides a New Library, higher video rendering speed, 60 fps recording and free assets of videos and audio.

What’s Camtasia?

First thing first, Camtasia is one of the most professional video editing software nowadays. It is designed primarily for creating training videos, product demos or software simulations. The program is packed with a high definition screen recorder and a built-in video editor. It’s available for Windows and Mac. Camtasia is not a free software. TechSmith allows you to test Camtasia in 30 days as trial only. Camtasia license price is $249 per license for new user and $99.50 for upgrading from Camtasia 9 to this 2018 edition.

New Library

Camtasia 2018 provides a New Library where you can easily organize reusable video assets such as add a new video folder, a sub folder or grouping reusable object for future use or share with partners in a Zip file. In this library, you can also create your own library or make use of Camtasia 2018 default library with dozen of free images, intro videos, low-third animation to speed up the process. Take a look at how to control the new library in Camtasia 2018.

Free Assets with a registered account

If you want more video assets, TechSmith provides a brand-new collection of free video assets including customizable intros, outros, lower thirds, and more. Instantly access them from the library. Being mentioned that you’ll need to register an account to start downloading these video assets to your computer. And the downloaded files can be used for Camtasia only. Not all the assets are free. There are some assets that need your subscription to be able to download too.

Edit and Produce at 60 fps (Not Recording video at 60 fps)

You can import, edit, and produce your videos that were recorded at 60 frames per second (fps) for a smooth, polished result. In its previous version, Camtasia Studio 9, you can only edit video at 30 fps. Now it is possible in 60 fps. But its screen recorder is still limited to 30 fps video recording only.

Faster Video Rendering Speed – But not the fastest one

Camtasia 2018 has faster video rendering speed compare to its previous version. We tested its speed with a 1 min project, 1080p, MP4 file with some intro texts and get the result after 7 mins which can be considered relatively fast compared to other video editing software in its lineup. However, it is not the fastest video editor we’ve reviewed. The closest competitor of Camtasia, ActivePresenter can render the same video length at 20% faster than what it does. And it is about 40% slower than Magix Vegas Pro 15.
